SIXR is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides underrepresented communities with early access to emerging technologies to empower individuals and communities through tech education and training. Their culturally responsive techniques connect with BIPOC, women, and LGBTQ communities, providing early access to technological resources for people of varying cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
SIXR is recognized for their strong desire to articulate and use STEAM activities, such as coding, gaming, programming languages, and audio/visual design technology, to pique the interest of youths. Their programs include the 48-Hour Cinematic VR Challenges, emerging tech showcases, mentorship programs, and paid internships for the Future Founders Maker Fellowship and Future Founders VR Fellowship.
